Titus Corlățean (Romania, SOC), PACE rapporteur on Ensuring accountability for the downing of flight MH17, has commemorated the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 on 17 July 2014.
“Seven long years ago, all 298 people on board, including 196 Dutch nationals, lost their lives when Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was brought down over eastern Ukraine. I should like to express my heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families,” he said.
“Serious international investigations have come to the preliminary conclusion that separatist fighters in the Donbass region shot down the plane, using a Russian BUK missile. Faced with such an atrocity, justice must be done, with the collaboration of the investigative authorities of all countries concerned,” he added.
“We owe this to the victims’ families, whose suffering has been deepened by attempts at spreading confusion and obfuscating the facts,” he concluded.
Mr Corlățean is due to carry out an information visit to the Netherlands and Ukraine in October.
